Sarah C. Vos (Ph.D., University of Kentucky) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Kentucky. Her research explores how public health organizations can use social media and other short message systems to improve health outcomes, particularly during a public health crisis. Her research has been published in Cancer Control, Health Security, Risk Analysis, and the Journal of Health Communication. As an applied and translational scholar, Dr. Vos is particularly interested in how health-related organizations can use social media communication to address misinformation.

Prior to coming to the KDA, Dr. Flynn served as the Veterinary Specialist for the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Animal Health Branch. Dr. Flynn received her Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from the University of Massachusetts in 1995, and her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 2001. Throughout her 18 years of regulatory animal health experience, Dr. Flynn has developed an awareness of animal disease prevention through enhanced biosecurity and has authored educational materials, which have been distributed to all 50 states and 12 countries. She has been a licensed veterinarian in Kentucky for three years.

Dr. Richard French has served as the Director of the Ohio Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, a Level 1 USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) lab. Dr. French acquired his DVM, MS and PhD from the University of Illinois. He is a veterinary pathologist with over 35 years’ experience, including academic dean, laboratory director, speaker, and as Vice President of Animal Health for CP Group – China, and Head of Operations for the Animal Health Center, Boehringer Ingelheim, Shanghai, China. Dr. French is a member of the USDA, National Animal Health Emergency Response Corp. and has served in international disease outbreaks. He has numerous publications in broad fields, which include the preclinical diagnosis of ASF by RT-PCR and is presently engaged in over $1M in research focused on the early detection of Transboundary Diseases of high consequence in animal health.
