Employee Safety is central to a healthy and productive veterinary practice. Scott Simpson, Risk Consultant for the AVMA PLIT, will present a high-level overview of Worker’s Compensation data to determine how practices can apply safe handling procedures to reduce their Worker’s Compensation claims while protecting their employee’s wellbeing on the job. The presentation is centered around employee safety and risk management for veterinary clinics and hospital staff, as well as students, volunteers, guest, and clients. The safety management techniques cover important information for recognizing, evaluating, and mitigating risk in the workplace. Discussions will center on important components of a robust safety program and will provide an overview of the criteria required by OSHA for employers to provide and maintain a safe and productive workplace.
